Claudine on Gretchen's MMK episode: "Hindi po ako natutuwa"

THE Barretto sisters, Claudine Barretto and Gretchen Barretto will have a face off this coming Saturday, April 10 since they'll be sharing the same time slot. Gretchen Barretto will once again grace ABS-CBN's longest
running drama anthology 'Maalaala Mo
Kaya'(MMK).

Aside from her upcoming teleserye with
Derek Ramsay
and young actress Bea Alonzo, Gretchen
will play the role of a teacher in an
MMK episode.

According to the actress, her role in
this upcoming TV-movie will be very
controversial because she will fall in
love to a priest.

"Maraming challenges talaga ang role ko
dito. Ako ay isang guro na mai-in love
sa isang sundalo, mabu-byuda at mai-in
love ulit– ito controversial talaga
dahil mai-in love ako sa isang pari
." she said.

When asked if she's aiming to receive
again an award in this upcoming project,
she said she just wants to make people
happy.

"Di ko iniisip kung magkakaroon ako ng
award o hindi. Ang iniisip ko lang
talaga sana mapaligaya ko yung mga
manoonod ng MMK, at bonus na lang kapag
may award."

Gretchen received PMPC Star Awars for
Television for Best Single Performance
by an Actress in her 2009 MMK stint
entitled 'Salamin'.

Meanwhile, Claudine Barretto will star on her first tv project on GMA-7, a drama anthology entitled 'Claudine'. The first title episode is called 'Alzheimer' with her husband Raymart Santiago, under the direction of Laurice Guillen which premieres almost on the same time slot of ABS-CBN's MMK.


During the presscon of Claudine, the actress admits that she feels bad with the rivalry that may occur between her and her sister.

"Hindi po ako natutuwa. Malungkot po
ako. Kasi, ayoko na ho sana... Once and
for all, sasagutin ko na ho para hindi
na lumaki pa. The only reason...sana na lang, hindi dumating
sa point na kung puwedeng ma-move na
lang next week or next, next week yung
airing ng 'Claudine' because, only yung mga pinagdadaanan ko,
pagdadaanan ko pa lang, simula pa lang
ng paglabas ng show na ito, alam ko ho
yun. Pero hindi ko ine-expect na
ganito, kasi it affects my parents so
badly.

"Ang parents ko ho, 70-plus na. Huwag
naman sana, sabi ng dad ko, na
pagsabungin kaming magkapatid kasi
pamilya namin 'to, e... Three years ko hong hindi nakausap ang kapatid
ko. Naging magkaaway kami for such
a long time and sana huwag lang siyang
magamit," she said.

How is her relationship with Gretchen at this moment?

"Alam n'yo, honestly, ayoko talagang
magsabi about my ate. Kasi, all she
wants is to work and you know, I really
want to give her that with all
sincerity. And ayoko talaga... Ang ayoko
lang, ang pag-awayin ulit kami. Please
naman," the actress said with misty eyed.

Had they already talk?

"Hindi pa, hindi pa... Yung parents ko,
naaapektuhan. Kung ako lang, okey lang,
okey lang. Trabaho, di ba? Pero
yung parents ko ang nahihirapan. Seventy-plus na yung parents
namin. Kung kami lang dalawang
magkapatid ang gusto n'yong
pag-awayin, go. Pero, di ba, bonus na
bonus kung may 10 years pa sila? Pero yung yesterday na kausap ko ang dad ko,
talagang hindi siya happy. Hindi siya
happy."

Is their some misunderstanding between her and Gretchen?

"I think so... Pareho." admits Claudine. Siguro, may mga nakakarating lang sa

Ayoko talagang isipin. Kasi nangako ako,
even sa ate ko, na hindi na talaga kami

ang ate ko d'yan. Gusto lang din niyang magtrabaho. Naiintindihan ko yun,
sobra. At gusto kong malaman niya yun na
naiintindihan ko yun."

Does she felt that it is intended by Kapamilya network to correspond Gretchen's MMK episode on the pilot episode of her first regular show in Kapuso network?

"Ano sa tingin mo? "Hindi...ayoko
talaga. Ang parents ko talaga is sobrang
nasasaktan and I really feel they don't deserve this. Kung ako lang
talaga at wala sila, okey lang. Pero, di
ba?

"Para makita mo ang anak mo... Dalawa
anak ko, e. Para makita mo ang dalawang
anak mo na parang pinagsasabong, masakit
yun. Ang tagal namin nag-try na
maayos. Nang maayos, eto pa. And
naiintindihan ko sobra yung parents ko
that's why I'm just trying to be a good daughter. I'm just trying to
protect my parents lang."
